Statement of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan
Regarding Violation of Commitment by South Korea
Dhu al-Hijjah 22, 1430 A.H, December 09, 2009
In the name of Allah,
the Merciful, the Compassionate
According to media reports, South Korea has showed readiness to send 500
soldiers to Afghanistan and deploy them in Parwan province.
The Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan considers this decision taken by the rulers
of the South Korea to be an act against national independence of Afghanistan, an
act against the Afghans and an attempt to violate the commitment made by Korea
in 2007 exchange for the release of 19 Koreans who were detained by the forces
of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan in Ghazni province. They had promised to
withdraw their troops from Afghanistan and committed never to send soldiers to
the country in future.
Now seeing that the government of South Korea violates its commitment made with
the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan; considering that she encroaches on the
national independence of the Afghans and prefers to please the Americans at the
cost of the enmity of the Afghans, therefore, we think it being an irrational,
irresponsible and impious step by the rulers of (south) Korea.
As a government, it is on its part an act of clear violation of the commitment,
and an irresponsible measure and violation, dealing a crushing blow at the
credibility and reputation of this country and a stigma on its face.
The Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan notifies the rulers of South Korea that if
they any way send troops to Afghanistan and violate their commitment, then they
should be prepared for the consequence of their action which they will certainly
face.
The Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan will not show any flexibility in this regard
(if God willing).
