Al-Qaeda
After Usama
By Allah's
Command Will Remain Standing
By Sheikh: Abu Sa’d al-‘Amili
- May Allah Protect Him -
The injustice of the enemy
alone shakes me *** Forbidden to trod the soil of my country
A fugitive, not pursued for the sake of any sin *** homeless
with no house calling to me
All America tries to assassinate me *** I beseech Allah to
die in Jihad
The fingers of the cowards point to me *** Accusing me of
crimes and extremism
Because I cling to the truth *** I demand my honor under
fire
Alone, and the Jews are everywhere *** increasing by
thousands and thousands
Alone…no, because the Lord of the Throne is my helper *** I
believe my help is from the Lord of the Servants
The Lion of Islam and the Martyr of the Ummah
Sheikh Abu Abdullah
Usama bin Laden
- May Allah Accept Him -
Prologue
Allah the Almighty has
destined for this final Ummah heavy obligations and great
responsibilities commensurate with its worth to Allah and
commensurate with the value of its Messenger, Seal and
Master of the Prophets and the leader of the Messengers, for
responsibility is given commensurate with status and the
honor of this Ummah lies in its effort and continuous Jihad
until the Day of Judgement.
Our Lord Exalted and Sublime has ordered us to preserve and
adhere to the Book of Allah and the Sunnah of his Messenger
as established and authentic means to ensure its complete
obedience to His command. The sun of this rectitude and
steadfastness will not set ever for this Ummah, on the
evidence of the words of the Prophet (may Allah’s prayers
and peace be upon him) on the authority of Muawiyah, may
Allah be pleased with him, who reported that the Messenger
of Allah, prayers and peace be upon him, said:
‹‹ لا تزال طائفة من أمتي قائمة بأمر الله لا يضرهم من خذلهم أو خالفهم، حتى يأتي أمر الله وهم ظاهرون على الناس ››
“A group of
people amongst my followers will remain obedient to Allah’s
orders and they will not be harmed by anyone who will help
them or who will oppose them, until Allah’s order (the Last
Day) comes upon them while they are still on the right
path.” [Narrated by Ahmed and
others].
We believe and are absolutely certain that Qaedat al-Jihad
is from this group, by the will of Allah, for they are
obedient to Allah’s orders in spite of the harm inflicted
upon them constantly, and in spite of the siege imposed upon
them from every side, and in spite of the scarcity of aid
and the plentitude and variety of enemies. There has never
been at any time in history such a congregation of people
from different nations and walks of life as have today
gathered against the blessed Qaedat al-Jihad from among Jews
and Christians, haters and hypocrites, apostates and
secularists, Rafidites and people of different sects, all of
them have joined together to fight this organization.
They will remain steadfast in obedience to Allah in spite of
the absence of some of its leaders and the arrest of others
and the pursuit of the remainder. To Allah is due the
achievement of their leaders and soldiers in their patience,
steadfastness and ability to absorb the blows of their
enemies, despite the force of those blows and the enormity
of their losses.
For the principle is Imaan and steadfastness in spite of
tribulations and harms inflicted by the enemy.
“But if ye are constant and do right, not the least harm will their cunning do to you; for Allah compasseth round about that they do” [Aal-e-Imran: 120].
“They
will do you no harm, barring a trifling annoyance; if they
come out to fight you, they will show you their backs, and
no help will they get” [Aal-e-Imran:
111].
These harms take many forms: they might take the form of the
death of Mujahideen leaders, or it might be by the arrest of
some brothers including leaders, and it might be a siege or
a scarcity of helping hands. It might also be at times the
people of Tawhid are overcome by the infidels, the
hypocrites and their helpers with their continuous resolve
and consensus to fight them and wage war against them. This
harm may also take the form of hostility by close relatives
of the People of Truth and indeed their support for and
standing by the people of falsehood in many places and
situations, which bleeds the hearts of the Mujahideen and
disturbs their souls.
There are many other examples which testify to the fact that
the road of truth is fraught with suffering and material and
spiritual harm. Constantly, as a basic principle, the spirit
must become inured to its consequences.
Affliction is a requirement of spreading the Da’wa, and a
fundamental condition of empowerment. A person is not
empowered until he suffers. And he does not suffer until
Allah desires through him goodness for His Deen in this
world and the Hereafter.
We May Lose the Battle, But We Will Not Lose the War
The war with our enemies is
represented today in a group of battles that we wage on
several fronts: those battles that are imposed upon us, and
those battles where we have the choice to either wage or
postpone. They are all considered pivotal and important in
this long-term war.
And one of the laws of Allah in this universe is that He
made the days alternate and made events go according to
knowledge that Allah knows:
“If
a wound hath touched you, be sure a similar wound hath
touched the others. Such days (of varying fortunes) We give
to men and men by turns: that Allah may know those that
believe, and that He may take to Himself from your ranks
Martyr-witnesses (to Truth). And Allah loveth not those that
do wrong” [Aal-e-Imran:
140].
The war between us and our enemies has its ups and downs and
the events of the war will not always be in favor of the
believers. Indeed, the opposite may be true in many stages,
for many reasons that would take long to explain, some of
which are due to fate, and others due to causes of Shari’ah.
In the end, the believer must be content with what is fated
and accept it. At the same time, he should seek for the
reasons and elements for victory while eliminating the
causes and factors of defeat from his soul and from the
surroundings in which he moves.
A war consists of a number of battles. We may lose some of
them in the physical sense of defeat, but according to the
divine concept of the meaning of defeat, an Ummah bearing
this Deen cannot be defeated. Every defeat must contain
within its folds aspects of victory, or, in other words,
motivators to overcome weakness and avoid the causes of
defeat. The Ummah of Islam must seek to spread this Deen and
apply it on this earth, according to the Will of Allah and
His effective commands.
So it is a victorious Ummah in all cases, elevated by its
belief, creed, and the final message that it carries for the
world. Its battles are not manifested on the battlefield
alone. Rather, they transcend this into many fields,
especially the field of the soul, where it seeks to summon
people and change the course of their lives completely. This
war is no less serious than fighting the enemy with a
weapon.
There is no clearer proof of this truth than the care of the
enemies to place material and moral obstacles in the path of
the Da’wa so that it does not reach the people and extricate
them from the ignorance and dilemma into which they have
fallen and turn them into supporters of right and soldiers
to destroy the landmarks of the falsehood in whose shadow
they used to live.
Allah Exalted and Sublime destined for His Religion victory
and triumph over other worldly religions and creeds.
“It
is He Who has sent His Messenger with Guidance and the
Religion of Truth, that he may proclaim it over all
religion, even though the Pagans may detest (it)”
[as-Saff: 9].
The Almighty also said:
﴾ كَتَبَ اللَّهُ لَأَغْلِبَنَّ أَنَا وَرُسُلِي إِنَّ اللَّهَ قَوِيٌّ عَزِيزٌ ﴿
“Allah
has decreed: ’It is I and My apostles who must prevail": For
Allah is One full of strength, able to enforce His Will”
[al-Mujadila: 21].
No matter to what extent the cunning of the enemies may
reach us and harm us; the group of believers, they will not
go past physical and material harm. Look, O Muslims, what
has been happening in the lands of the Muslims for years:
they have destroyed the houses over the heads of the young,
the sheikhs and the women. They have brought down schools
over the heads of children, hospitals over the heads of the
sick and wounded, as well as training camps, and even the
houses of Allah. They have closed many institutions and
stopped many of the public activities by which the Ummah
strengthens itself. They have arrested many of the sons of
the Ummah who have been working in the field or have killed
them, but they can never stop the journey of al- Da’wa wal-Jihad,
and they can never stop the help and the veins in which the
blood of the Mujahid flows.
All this is happening, and it is a harm that reaches us at
times, but we must bear it and be patient in the face of its
losses, pains, and wounds. The nature of this religion is
that it is strengthened by such a siege, such harm, and with
such great sacrifices.
Yet, when the confrontation with those enemies is on the
ground, then the equation is flipped. They are then too
cowardly to confront their enemies and too cowardly to fire,
and they become easy prey in the hands of the Mujahideen:
﴾ وَإِن يُقَاتِلُوكُمْ يُوَلُّوكُمُ الأَدُبَارَ ثُمَّ لاَ يُنصَرُونَ ﴿
“If they come out to fight you, they will show you their backs, and no help shall they get.” [Aal-e-Imran: 111].
If a Wound Hath Touched You, Be Sure a Similar Wound Hath Touched the Others
The harm that had been
inflicted upon Qaedat al-Jihad recently is considered a
great pain and ulcer embodied by the death of its first
leader and guide Sheikh Abu Abdullah Usama bin Laden, may
Allah elevate his position. In addition, the event in terms
of size and importance cannot be compared to any other news,
and we cannot draw parallels between it and the rest of the
losses and harms that have been inflicted upon the
organization – on the surface. In truth, however, we assert
with all certainty that this event contains in it great good
and many benefits and much wisdom that we may not realize
now in the midst of this current media furor that has
accompanied and continues to accompany this great event.
Therefore, we should deal with this as a calamity on the
surface, but as a gift in reality from a perspective of pure
faith and education in order for us to be able to pick the
fruits that are hidden from many of those Muslims who oppose
and fight us.
All people view this event as a great loss and a decisive
and mortal blow to the al-Qaeda organization. There are
those who go even further by saying that the organization
will not remain standing after what happened. Its fate will
be extinction or at the very least it would be fragmented
into petty bands possibly in conflict with each other, which
will lead inevitably to its death, just like what happened
to its first leader and Emir.
The wound that afflicts us today is hard on the souls,
without a doubt. It is, however, fated by Allah Exalted and
Sublime, and is part of a series of hardships that Allah
destined for this Ummah, at the forefront of which is this
victorious group, Allah willing, that stands up for Allah’s
command and is patient in the face of the consequences of
this path.
Our precious lost one is considered to be the last in a
series of great leaders who created victory for this Ummah
and seek to rebuild the lost Caliphate, through the power of
Allah. Each one of them is like a brick in this blessed and
lofty edifice that will soon be completed.
What follows are instructional positions in the form of a
group of messages that I address to several parties that
have a direct and deep connection to the event. I say with
reliance on Allah:
First: To Qaedat al-Jihad and Its Soldiers
Know, O beloved ones, that
Allah is testing you in this event just as he tested you
with previous events, to see what you will do. You know more
than to let this just, divine wisdom pass you by. Allah’s
fate stops for no one, for His law is ongoing and will not
be replaced nor changed. If it had changed for anyone, it
would have changed for the best of His creation, Muhammad
bin Abdullah, may the peace and prayers of Allah be upon
him. We saw that all of his life was hardship, tragedy, and
sacrifice until he met Allah. It was thus for his good
companions, the best of creation after our noble Prophet,
including Abu Bakr al-Siddiq and the three martyrs Umar al-Farouq,
Uthman, and Ali, may Allah be pleased with them.
So did their death or martyrdom detract from their value?
And did the journey of Islam stop with their death and their
martyrdom? Or did it increase in clarity, strength, and
cohesion until the call of Tawhid spread across the
horizons, conquered countries, and liberated the world?
This is the nature of the call of Tawhid. It spreads with
the death of its people, and it is strengthened and becomes
firmer with their martyrdom. No matter how much we speak of
the good of martyrdom in Islam, we still cannot encompass
all the great benefits and fruits that the believing group
gains from the martyrdom of its sons in general and the
martyrdom of its leaders especially.
Today you are faced with great responsibilities to preserve
the purity of this call and its continuity, and to try to
realize all the hidden lessons and examples behind the
absence of our martyred leader, and to absorb this great
blow so as to strengthen our backs instead of breaking them,
which is what our enemy wishes.
We want all of the leadership of al-Qaeda to turn into Usama,
so that we have more than one Usama, complicating the job of
our enemies in tracking you, so that Usama will remain alive
to attack their homes and turn their lives into an
unbearable hell to the extent that they regret the day that
their souls allowed them to touch Usama.
If Usama died, there are thousands upon thousands of Usama’s
that will take his place, continue his path, and nurture,
organize, and direct the groups of the Mujahideen
everywhere. Many new fronts will be opened up against our
enemies in places they did not consider, and they would not
have been opened had Usama been alive because they were the
result and natural fruit of his martyrdom, may Allah accept
him and elevate him to paradise. This is one of the
illustrations of the meaning that the martyr is alive and
does not die in the minds, souls, and conscience of the
Ummah.
Second: To the Supporters of Al-Qaeda and the Jihad in General
O loyal supporters of
al-Qaeda, go with Allah’s blessing in your support of
Allah’s religion. Remain in your places, and stand over your
trenches. By Allah, it is not a defeat and should not be so.
Indeed, it is a far smaller wound than what afflicted the
Muslims on the day of Uhud when rumor was spread of the
death of the Prophet, may the peace and prayers of Allah be
upon him, and the Muslims left the battlefield thinking that
Islam had ended with the death of the Prophet. But the calls
of the steadfast companions were being shouted,
shaking the souls and awakening them
from the lethargy caused by that great shock: "If the
Prophet of Allah died, stand and die for that which the
Prophet died, may the peace and prayers of Allah be upon
him."
We in
our turn say and shout in the souls of the Ansar: If our
leader Usama died, he is merely a Mujahid, a member of the
Ummah, who wished for martyrdom and sought it. The path of
Jihad will not stop with his death, Allah willing, but
rather, it should be stronger than it was before. Just as
you should intensify your efforts and be careful to complete
your missions and continue your preparation for the coming
battles with great determination and will. Allah will not
abandon your efforts, instead He will bless them, just as He
blessed them while Usama was alive among you. The Deen is
Allah’s religion. It is He Whom we seek, and He is alive and
does not die. We will die for that what Usama died, so let
our enemies die of their frustration.
O supporters, there are those of you who stand beside the
Mujahideen in the trenches of the conflict, with their soul,
money and all they own. They are decisively linked to the
Mujahideen and the Jihad, and have nothing left to lose or
be afraid of in terms of worldly pleasures or status. Thus,
they are an indivisible part of the Jihadi gathering,
commanded by its commands and restricted by its
restrictions. They go with the interest of Jihad wherever it
may go. They are represented today by the thousands of youth
who have left for the land of Jihad and joined the ranks of
the Mujahideen there. There are those who wage the battles
directly and those who are still in the preparation phase.
And there are those who have been set apart and are waiting
to fulfill their role in this battle. And at the right time
and place, they are in constant unity, wherever they place
their effort, and Allah will reward it, Allah willing.
This group is characterized by superb traits of discipline
and organization and they are considered the long arm of the
Jihadi group. The enemy calls them "sleeper cells" but, in
truth, they are awake and cautious cells. This is why the
enemy was unable to expose them and will not be able to do
so, Allah willing, until they fulfill their missions as well
as possible in Allah’s care and preservation.
There is another type of supporter, who did not go to the
battlefield. They are found everywhere and especially in the
Islamic lands under the rule of the apostate regimes. They
yearn mightily to practice the worship of Jihad, but they
lack the proper and required preparation. In waiting to
achieve this, we find them undertaking many actions that are
in the interest of supporting the Mujahideen, whether in the
fields of Da’wa, media, finance and security. At the same
time, they seek to prepare for the defensive Jihad in their
countries which have been occupied by the apostates. They
understood well that there is no difference between the
original infidels and the apostate rulers in terms of the
necessity of waging Jihad against them. They are two sides
of the same coin, knowing that fighting the closer apostate
is worthier than fighting the distant infidel.
These tasks should be more present in the life of those
supporters after the death of the leader Usama. I point out
especially the mission of the supporters of the Jihad media,
in this sensitive and important stage of the Jihad of the
Ummah. We are in great need of reviving the biography of the
martyred leader and disseminating his positions, directives,
and the narrative of the attacks that he led or participated
in so that he may remain alive among us and a thorn in the
throats of our enemies, so that the result of their killing
him and his absence from this world is his constant presence
among his supporters, followers, and students.
Third: To the Enemies of Al-Qaeda
To those we say, rejoice in
what will harm you, as you have opened upon yourselves new
doors to hell and increased the intensity of the animosity
between us and yourselves. You have hurt us through our
dearest and most precious of leaders. You were nothing but
an instrument of Allah’s will in ending the life of the
leader Sheikh Usama, for he could not have delayed or moved
up his death even by a moment. Moreover, he achieved his
desire of martyrdom in Allah’s cuase, head on in a fierce
battle. While you were eager to capture him, Allah destroyed
your hopes and achieved the goal of His worshiper Usama to
fall as a martyr and reap the fruits of his Jihad that had
extended past three decades.
This is the end that every Mujahid from al-Qaeda desires.
Not only that, but, a Mujahid hopes to get martyred several
times just as his commander Messenger - may the peace and
prayers of Allah be upon him - hoped; it was narrated that
the Prophet, may the peace and prayers of Allah be upon him,
said:
“By the
Being in Whose Hand is Muhammad’s life, if it were not hard
upon the Muslims, I would not lag behind any expedition
undertaken for Jihad, but I do not possess abundant means to
provide the Mujahideen with riding animals, nor do they (i.
e. all of them) have abundant means (to provide themselves
with all the means of Jihad) to follow me, nor would it
please their hearts to stay behind me. By the Being in Whose
Hand is the soul of Muhammad, I would love to fight in the
way of Allah and be killed, to fight and again be killed,
and to fight again and be killed.”
[narrated by Bukhari and Muslim].
This is the wish of our honorable Prophet, so how can it not
be the wish of every Muslim Mujahid after him, because they
went out and left their homes, families, businesses, and
jobs. So what have you reaped other than shame and
disappointment? Meanwhile, Sheikh Usama reaped the gardens
of paradise - and the pleasure of Allah. We regard him thus
and we do not praise him before Allah.
You have taken the initiative to hasten the confrontation
with the heroes of al-Qaeda, and you will see what will make
the hair of the young turn gray and make you forget the
disasters of the two attacks in New York and Washington. The
fronts this time are numerous and far apart and the strikes
will come whence you do not expect, so rejoice in what harms
you and prepare well for this matter. It is coming, and
soon!
And if you thought that the killing of Sheikh Usama would
weaken al-Qaeda, then you are mistaken, delusional, and do
not comprehend the nature of our Religion. Despite spending
billions on your studies and institutions in an attempt to
understand and realize the secrets of our true Religion, and
despite the experiences you have had with the Jihadist
groups headed by al-Qaeda, you remain a people that do not
know nor understand.
Just as Islam’s supporters and adherents were strengthened,
spread and multiplied after the death of the Prophet of
Islam, Muhammed bin Abdullah, may the peace and prayers of
Allah be upon him, after the death of the first Caliph al-Siddiq,
may Allah be pleased with him, and the martyr Caliphs Umar
al-Farouq, Uthman, and Ali, may Allah approve of them all,
Islam increases in power and strength among the people,
whenever an Emir or one of its leaders falls, as if the
blood of those people gives a unique impetus to this
religion so that it is new blood coursing through the body
of this Ummah or blessed water that irrigates the great tree
of Islam causing it to take root in the earth and grow as
its luxuriant shade spreads.
Fourth: To the Group “Who Listens To Them”
You who hold the cane from the middle and stand in the middle between the group of righteousness and their supporters and the group of hypocrisy and defeat, you are ever in need of those who will remind you of your duties towards your religion. If we ignore you for even a short period of time we find that you have changed course and abandoned the ranks and joined the defeatists:
﴾ وَفِيكُمْ سَمَّاعُونَ لَهُمْ ﴿
“And
among you are those who have listened’ [al-Tauba:
47].
We find you always repeating the specious arguments of those
who have no understanding or awareness, away from the
understanding of the laws of Allah in the summons and in
conflicts with evil.
You are like the people of Israel who said to Moses, may
peace be upon him:
﴾ قَالُواْ أُوذِينَا مِن قَبْلِ أَن تَأْتِينَا وَمِن بَعْدِ مَا جِئْتَنَا ﴿
“They
said: "We have had (nothing but) trouble, both before and
after thou camest to us." [al-Araf: 129].
This is a similar and repeated position, as if this type of
soul had drunk from the same spring and was created to
mutter and complain and not endure in the name of Allah.
They would like Allah Almighty to grant them heaven in this
world and the Hereafter without paying the smallest price in
His cause.
Until when will you remain angry at the current situation,
and cast blame upon the Mujahideen because of the
humiliation and injustice you live in?
Is it not time for you to decide to move to a higher level
of commitment and to take up responsibility? Are you not
part of this Ummah that had decided to rise to restore its
old glory? Until when will you remain a negative phenomenon
and a weapon in the hands of our enemies for them to use you
and armor themselves with you in their vicious war against
the Mujahideen?
The loss of our leader is a source of power and inspiration
for us to continue the path and make greater efforts to
liberate ourselves and you along with us, in order to expel
the occupation from our lands, and drive them out of our
homes, as they tried to expel us from them, and make us turn
away from our religion using all possible methods.
Are you pleased to be of assistance to them against us and
stab your brothers in the back, so that you lose this world
and the Herafter? If you had stood by your brothers and
blocked your ears from hearing the rumors of the enemies and
their discouragement, you would be participating in the
process of renewal and in the battles of liberation, even if
it is only with your words, hearts, and prayers, which will
win for you Allah’s approval on the Day of Judgment.
Our leaders - among whom and at the head of whom is our
leader Abu Abdullah Usama, may Allah accept him - are human
beings and soldiers that were sent by Allah to do the duty
of bringing the worshipers away from worshiping slaves to
worshiping the Lord of the worshipers. Their life-spans are
known and their efforts limited and they are not fated for
immortality in this world.
If they have lived, then it is for Allah and the Deen. If
they have died, it is for the sake of Allah. The path of
Jihad will not be stopped with their death and will not be
perverted, through Allah’s power and strength, as this is
due to the blessing of the blood of those leaders and their
loyalty to Allah Sublime and Exalted.
We thank Allah for His apparent and hidden blessings. We are
patient in the face of the trials He sent us, both great and
small. We ask Him to grant us sincerity in words and deeds,
steadfastness, and uprightness in following His command, to
grant us martyrdom for His sake, to follow the beloved ones;
Muhammad and his companions, and to accept our leader and
Emir, the Lion of Islam; Usama, and all of the martyrs,
until the Day of Judgment.
