Beware Of The Su’ Ulama’s
Zul Qadah 24, 1431 A.H, Tuesday, November 02, 2010
All praises are for Allah alone Who exalts Islam with His
aids, and humiliates shirk with His power. He is the One who
who takes care of all matters and provides respite for those
who disbelieve with His plan. Salawat and salam to the beloved
Prophet, Muhammad sallallahu alaihiwasallam, who has
illuminated Islam with the Qur’an and his sword.
Indeed, the ulama's are like the stars in
the heaven. It is through their hands that mankind obtained
guidance. They are the ones who explained to this ummah
the way of guidance and the way of istiqomah upon
that guidance. It is through them that the ummah
understand about the way of evil and the way to avoid it. They
are like the rain that falls on barren ground, so that diverse
plants that are useful grow out of it.
However, after the spread of various fitnahs and the
outbreaks of a deadly poison amongst the ummah, there
emerged the su’ ulama’s who sell their dien
for their dunya. Sometimes they are more eloquent and
their explanations are more easily accepted. Even their
methods are varied that many people from the ummah
are attracted to them. It is that attraction that makes them
committed with those su’ ulama’s, whereas they are
substantially upon error. Concerning them, Rasulullah
SallAllahu ‘alaihi wa Sallam said:
“There will appear in the end
times, people who seek the dunya with religion. In front of
the people they wear clothes made of wool to give the
impression of their humility, their speeches are sweeter than
sugar but their hearts are the hearts of wolves (very fond of
wealth and position). Allah says,
“Are you fooled by Me (the mercy
and opportunities I give) or that you dare towards Me? By My
self, I swear. I will send down disasters from among their own
who turns decent people into confusion (let alone others
besides them) so they are not able to get away from it.”
(HR: Tirmidzi)
The su’ulama’s are the lowest level of ulama's,
the worst and the most losers. It's all because they invite
towards evil and error. They present bad things in the shape
of goodness. They depict batil (falsehood) with a
picture of a truth. There are times when they are
“bootlicking” the rulers or other tyrannical people for the
sake of obtaining positions, ranks, influence, appreciation or
anything from the adornments of the world that are within
their hands. Or they are those who are doing it because of
deliberately opposing Allah Subahanahu wa Ta’ala and
His Rasul in order to create mischiefs on this earth. They are
no other than the khalifahs of Shaytan or the
representatives Dajjal.
What are the differences?
Actually it is not difficult to tell the differences between
the honest ulama’ and the su’ ulama’, the
tail of the rulers. As for the good ulama’s, whether
they are in secluded places, inside the prisons of the
thaghut or in any other places for that matter, you would
see them always committed with this dien. But on the
other hand, you would see the su’ ulama’s always
selling the life of the hereafter for gaining a little from
the life of this world. They are always at the doors of the
thaghut rulers. Just like in the words of Hudzaifah
radhiyallahu ‘anhu:
"If you
are seeing an ‘alim at the door of the ruler, then his dien is
debatable. So it is not of them [the ulama’s] to take a part
from their [the rulers] dunya, except those rulers will take
from their [the ulama’s] dien in proportion."
How could we not differentiate between the ulama’s
whose sacrifices have been proven in the form of restrictions
and the spending of their time in conducting da'wah
in the path of Allah Ta’ala, and the ulama’s
who are filled with comforts and never tried with hardships? A
very big difference.
How could we have tsiqqoh (confidence) on them when
they have not yet tasted the prison, they have not yet felt
the fear due to being chased by kafir people, and
they have not yet received the burdens in the struggle?
Whereas, we have not yet found the bearers of this da'wah
living the life of comforts, in fact this path is filled with
the smell of the blood of its bearers.
Are we acting dumb with the condition of Imam Ahmad whose life
was filled with trials and disasters? Whereas, he could have
taken the ruhshah (dispensation) to obey the ruler by
saying that the Qur’an is makhluq (created). But he
preferred to receive the trials because it would elevate his
status in front of Allah Ta’ala.
Let us ponder the words of Imam Ibnu Taimiyah when he was being tested. To make clear to us the way taken by the righteous ulama’s:
مَا يَفْعَلُ أَعْدَائِي بِي؟ أَنَا سِجْنِي خَلْوَةً، وَنَفْيِي سِيَاحَةً، وَقَتْلِي شَهَادَةً
"What could my enemies do to me, if I am imprisoned, that is a khalwah for me, if I am banished, that is a recreation for me. And if I am killed, that is a shaheed."
Look, O ikhwahs, at Sayyid Qutub when he was forced to retract his words and enmity towards the thaghut at that time! He said:
"Verily, the finger that testifies to Allah by acknowledging
His Oneness (tawheed) in solat, will never want to write
even a letter that recognizes the law of thaghut."
This this the way of the sincere ulama’s. This is
the way of the Prophets and the establishers of this
Dien. There is no other way, except for those ways that
are far from the guidance the Prophet.
Our Attitude
The attitude that we must adopt as the strugglers of Islam
are, as what had been communicated by Sheikh Abu Mus’ab as-Syuri
in Da’wah al-Muqoowamah al-Islamiyah al-‘Alamiyah,
in brief:
First: Fully supporting the ulama’s
and leaders of jihad who are defending the truth and
defending the interests of the ummah.
Second: Embracing those who fear and have
the possibility of becoming supporters of this struggle in
ways full of hikmah (wisdom). Besides that,
striving to straighten the crooked ummah, as long
as that crookedness does not become their manhaj.
Third: Firmly avoiding the ulama’s
of the rulers who had been infected with the syndrome of
hypocrisy (munafiq) and become the traitors of this
Dien. Of course it must be with strong hujjahs
and explanations that are irrefutable.
We pray to Allah Ta’ala to strengthen our
convictions, the convictions of our ulama’s and
those of the fighters of Islam in treading this path.
Although heavy, and full of hindrances and thorns, we are
confident that victory is surely in the hands of Islam. It
is impossible for Allah to let His slaves who are
mukhlis in defeat.
