A Message to a Scholar

Abu Yayha alLibi

8/7/1429 – 11/7/2008

I seek refuge in Allah from Satan the accursed. In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the

Most Merciful.

All praise is due to Allah alone, and may the Peace and Blessings of Allah be upon

Muhammad, after whom there is no other prophet.

To proceed:

To the excellent Sheikh, may Allah protect him, raise his value and station and accompany him with the prophets, the foremost believers, the martyrs and the righteous, and what good company that is.

As-Salamu alaykum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh

I am sure your excellence is well aware of the enormous events blowing the Ummah east and west today, these events which are a direct result of the despotic Crusader attack led by the protector of disbelief, the father of all evil and filth, the caretaker of the Jewish State, America. It has given itself free reign to spread corruption throughout the world. It has demolished homes over its inhabitants and mosques over the praying, and it has committed so many atrocities that even the media couldn’ keep silent, and all have come to know of this fact in their own living rooms. The matter has become so exposed and well‐known that they openly publicize it, even boasting about it without any care. They continue to indulge in these atrocities with the aid of their followers, their agents from our lands, those resembling us in their appearance and names.

In opposition to these bulldozing armies which hold the mightiest of arsenal and the latest technological advances, and in opposition to this alliance formed by groups representing all other beliefs and religions, are the Islamic youth, the lions of Tawheed, the noble bearers of our creed, having nothing other than faith in their Lord, barefoot, naked, poor and weak; disheveled, dusty, scattered and displaced; plucked by the infidels here and there, followed by the eyes of their agents in every place of rest. But they have come this far with firm dedication, deep certainty, and lofty Iman. They are guarding the religion with all their ability, and thus they are a protective fence for their Ummah and shield for their Aqeedah. Their actions are pleasing to all who are truthful, while they enrage all who are hypocrites. They are a shining pearl in these dark times, a radiant moon in the dark sky.

Youth who graze in the field of worship,

for Allah they have gathered, for Allah they have spent.

If you look at them you believe them to have come,

from Paradise, or for Paradise they have mounted and left.

They are the ones who have established true justice,

wherever they are prevented, also is justice prevented.

They are the ones upon whom glows,

the brightest of stars and the season of spring.

The reigns of horses refuse all hand except theirs,

and horses refuse that any mount but them.

After the aid of Allah (Y) His guiding of opinions, and His strengthening the hearts and the feet, the signs of victory have begun to appear to all Muslims, and slowly but surely the sun of truth has begun to rise over the horizon. The armies of falsehood have fallen into a mire of catastrophes and calamities which have began to pour on them profusely, all by the grace of Allah, his Might and Power. Not a day has started to pass except that they admit their losses, both physical and moral. Their perplexity is well‐apparent on their looks, trying to find a way out from their continual disasters, and to Allah belongs all praise and favors. A person truly feels what Allah said, although our affliction has not yet been totally relieved:

“And remember when you were few and were reckoned weak in the land, and were afraid that men might kidnap you, but He provided a safe place for you, strengthened you with His Help, and provided you with good things so that you might be grateful.” [Surah alAnfal (8):26]

The Mujahidoon, all praise is due to Allah, here in Afghanistan are gaining victory day by day. Their condition is much better than it was before, and they are now on the offensive, attacking the Christians and apostate infidels in their own bases through martyrdom seeking operations, surprise attacks, wide‐scale offensives, successful ambushes, and focused missile attacks. The Mujahidoon, by the grace of Allah, are showing great patience and perseverance over their enemies, striving hard diligently. They are bent upon making this winter a hell for the infidels; they will prevent them from feeling the comfort of silence, tranquility and warmth. The Mujahidoon will try their utmost to bear with the severity of the winter and continue their operations, so that the infidels are unable to reorganize their affairs and rejoin their fissured and obliterated ranks. Overall, their conditions are getting better day by day, and all have started to feel the glad tidings of victory and establishment.

We wished to give you these glad tidings, o esteemed Sheikh, may Allah protect you and raise your value, due to what we know of you and your desire to be acquainted with the news of the Mujahidoon and giving importance to what their affairs, taking example from the saying of our Prophet (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam):

“The example of the believers in their mutual love, mercy and empathy is like one body; if one part is ill, the whole body catches fever and remains sleepless.”

I pray that Allah blesses you, your knowledge and the rest of your life. But our noble Sheikh, may Allah grant you success and raise your worth, I am sure you know that the most difficult of affairs faced by the Mujahidoon in the arenas of Jihad is the lack, if not the total absence, of truthful scholars who practice what they preach, those who were supposed to stand side by side with their sons so that they can drink from their fountain, taking from their knowledge, learning from their manners, taking advice from their guidance, following the guidelines of their verdicts.

The Mujahidoon, by the Grace of Allah, without doubt trust in your likes, those who stand firm upon truth in face of opposition, and they love you and respect you. You may not know what they feel in their hearts when they are told of your supportive words and advice. How would it be if you were with them in each other’s sight, listening to your advice without any intermediaries? By Allah, o noble Sheikh, in the arenas of Jihad with your sons and your loved ones you will find the utmost respect, that which you have never seen nor heard of. By Allah! And I reiterate, by Allah! You will find that your knowledge and foresight, on top of what Allah has already given you, will be multiplied greatly.

Our noble Sheikh, may Allah increase you in your virtue and raise your station in both worlds, indeed the arenas of Jihad are filled with new unheard‐of issues, most of which require a speedy response, issues not able to be postponed. The Mujahidoon are in much need of good scholars of your likes to refer to in these matters, and you are the ones able in this, and we think there is much good in you. If not, then at least we must be able to seek your counsel, refer to you, and seek your opinions and verdicts in the issues we face. May Allah raise your ranks, bring benefit through you, protect you, and enrage our enemies, the enemies of our religion, through you. Indeed He is All-hearing, All-Knowledgeable.

Was-Salamu alaykum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh.

Abu Yayha al-Libi
