Imam Samudera: "I Don't Regret, Even If I Have To Die"
28-07-2008
"NEVER be sad. Rejoice, because my
friends and I have done a transaction in accordance with Allah's commandment.
That is a great victory. Until death approaches me, I would never regret."
“I never wish to apply for clemency from the kafir law. I am holding on to Islam
tightly, clenching It in my fist and gripping It in my teeth" that was a piece
of statement by Imam Samudera, as quoted by Lulu Jamaludin, his blood brother.
In the meeting, Lulu also found the opportunity to inquire and at the same time
discuss about the reason of why his brother chose Bali as a target for his
jihad. Imam Samudera stated that the inquiry is not an easy one to answer, Lulu
said.
"The main target was the invading nations such as America as well as its allies
who were gathering in Bali. Therefore it was not about the location of the
target. The mass slaughterings of the Muslims in Afghanistan in Ramadhan 2001
was the trigger. The invading nations were slaughtering innocent babies," Imam Samudera said. (In his book "I Am Fighting The Terrorists", Imam Samudera
explained of how they were always wanted by the authorities and that their
access overseas were blocked as they were not granted the papers, so they had to
look for local targets).
Imam Samudera believed that the journey of life in this world is to proceed for
the next journey, Paradise. "Who is truer in his promise than Allah? Be happy
with the transaction you have made. That is a true success," Imam Samudera said.
In the opportunity of meeting with his brother, the issue of the statement of
his case had also became a part of the discussion. As for the charges, Imam
Samudera had been said to have met the term of the article 15 (of The Criminal
Law Act), his actions had been defined to have the elements of an unusual crime.
"I am not afraid or going acrophobic at all. On the contrary I am saying this to
the prosecutors; Death is just a part of the whole episodes, then it is eternal
life. The believers are experiencing the sufferings, as well as the pains and
sorrows” he clarified.
"The same goes with the others (the kafirs). But there is a difference. The
mukmin (believers) are receiving the mercy of Allah, while they don't. May Allah
strengthen me on the this path of Islam, until the angel comes to take me. Bear
witness, we are the Muslims," Imam Samudera explained.
