Ambon In Chaos, Bloody Ambon Part II?

AMBON, Indonesia – Ambon is in chaos. Fightings with the stones is ongoing in the area of Talake and Waringin, Ambon, Sunday (11/09/2011). According to some sources, the riots were triggered by the death of an ojek (motorcycle taxi) operator who was beaten-up by the masses of a certain group. The riots eventually extended to become a battle with rocks, in fact even with guns. The atmosphere was tense and the people who were in panic were finding shelters in masjids. Are these riots only the clashes between ordinary citizens or is it a Bloody Ambon Part II?

The Death of a Motorcycle Taxi Operator, the Trigger?

Immediately after the unrest in Ambon was reported, the Indonesian Police HQ (Mabes Polri) released a statement informing the cause of the riots, namely it was due to a resident who had a solo accident, where next the driver was mobbed and beaten-up by a certain group of the masses. This statement was delivered by the Head of the Police Criminal Investigation Body, Commissioner General of Police Sutarman, at the Mabes Polri, Sunday (11/9/2011) afternoon.

“There was this operator, he actually had a solo accident. But he was instead attacked by a certain group resulting in revenge,” he said.

Unfortunately, it was not explained in detail what “operator” did he mean and why the person was then attacked by the masses. What's obvious, that person died on the spot, and Sutarman said that the clashes occurred after the funeral was completed.

The source of Arrahmah.com in Ambon informed that the “operator” who had became the trigger of the riots in Ambon was a Muslim ojek (motorcycle taxi) operator and the location of his death was in the district of Gunung Nona which is known as the area a specific group, namely Christians.

Still according to the sources of Arrahmah.com, the area of Batu Gantung, Waringin, known as the Muslim area, is now already razed to the ground due to the chaos i.e. being burned by the masses. The Atmosphere Was Still Tense?

The riots in Ambon had reportedly been gripping the residents, that they have to take refuge in a number of masjids. As reported by the detikcom, Sunday (11/09/2011), the people fled to seek refuge, they brought their families to find a safer place. The residents who panicked fled into a number of masjids, such as Masjid Raya Al Fatah, Ambon, and Masjid Jami' of Ambon city.

The information from the scene received by Arrahmah.com reported that, after the killing of the ojek operator in the Christian village, the Muslim masses concentrated in the village of Waihong, the border area to block off the road and carry out the 'sweeping' against Christian residents. It was also reported that the Silo Church was damaged and is now heavily guarded.

Approaching night time, it was reported that the Ambon chaos already started to subside, and sounds of gunshots were not heard anymore. However, both groups of the masses remained in their respective positions.

The correspondent of Arrahmah.com reported from the scene that by this afternoon around 60 Muslim have been wounded as a result of the clashes. In fact, the falling victims continue to increase.

A villager named Fauzi said that, at this time police personnels have already been stationed at the sites of the clashes to quell the masses.

“Hopefully it would not spread, because this is like repeating the old wounds of the past violence,” he said.

JAKARTA – Although the police have repeatedly asserted that the death of a Muslim ojek (motorcycle taxi) rider/operator was a pure accident, the Islamic Ummah doubted the police release.

The following are the facts revealed by the Forum Umat Islam (Islamic Ummah Forum/FUI), that the Muslim ojek operator was killed in the area of ​​the non-Muslims.

The FUI publicly doubted the testimony of the police which stated that what triggered the clashes was the self-accident of Darmin Saiman, a Muslim ojek operator. The Secretary General of the FUI, Muhammad Al-Khaththath expressed that the doubt was also felt by the family of the deceased, Darmin Saiman, in Ambon.

A case like this according to Al-Khaththath, is not a new thing. Because similar incidents had previously occurred three times which infuriated the Muslims.

“We doubt the police statement that it was solo accident. Because according to the information that we got, the family there doubt the occurrence of a solo accident, but there is an element of persecution. In fact, we hear similar cases have been happening three times before, giving rise to the anger of the Muslims,” Al-Khaththath explained Monday night (12/9/2011) after launching the Crisis Center of the Islamic Ummah Forum (FUI).

While Bernard Abdul Jabbar from the Islamic Ummah Forum (FUI), said that the number of victims killed in the clashes in Ambon is 8 now people. As for the ojek operator, the fact is that he was actually killed, it was not a pure accident as stated by the police.

“I have the photo, there was a lot of stab marks, very clear, there is an element of persecution with the motive of murder,” said Bernard who is also an activist from the Hizbut Da'wah Islam (HDI).

The statement from Al-Khaththath is also in agreement with the statement of the President of MER-C Dr. Joserizal Jurnalis, who revealed many facts and irregularities in the statement released by the police.

Among other unusual conditions seen is the condition of the late Darmin Saiman, where his head was broken while the helmet was still intact. Besides that, Dr. Joserizal also revealed that the presence of stab wounds on his back further strengthens the notion that the Muslim ojek operator did not die in an accident but he was intentionally killed.

“The reports from the victim's family says that the motorcycle helmet belonging to the ojek operator is in one piece but his head was broken due the impact of the blows. There are also stab wounds in his back,” he explained.

With regards to this incident, Dr. Joserizal urged the police to perform a re-autopsy and clarify it to the public and the media as honestly as possible, about what actually happened.

FPI Prepares The Laskar Jihad For Ambon

JAKARTA – The Front Pembela Islam or Islamic Defenders Front (FPI) has found that Christian police personnels have taken part in butchering Muslims in the latest Ambon riots. So the FPI is urging the Head of the Indonesian Police to dismiss the Mobile Brigade (BriMob) Police Chief and prosecute the police personnels who are involved in the riots. According to the Secretary General of the FPI, KH Muhammad Shabri Lubis, Christian officials are directly involved in this Ambon riots Part II which have killed Muslims.

“We keep on following the developments, yes, this unrest has now become widespread and it involves Christian apparatuses in butchering Muslims. So, those Christian apparatuses are involved, that's our findings,” he said on Monday afternoon, (12/9/2011).

Beside that, the FPI also indicated that there is a role played by the separatist group , the Republik Maluku Selatan (RMS) or Republic of South Moluccas behind the bloody Ambon tragedy.

“Yes, the RMS is playing its role here,” he asserted.

To make sure that this imbalanced riots do not get widespread, the FPI demands that the Indonesian Police Head take action against the police personnels who are involved in the butchery of Muslims in this Ambon tragedy Part II.

“We are asking the Indonesian Police Chief and the Commander of the TNI (Indonesian Military) to immediately send their Military Police there to find the police personnels who are involved and taking part in butchering Muslims,” Shabri urged.

“They have to be dragged into the civil or military court and also to the international Human Right commission, that's what we are demanding,” he added.

The FPI deeply regrets the existence of officers who are unprofessional in carrying out their duty in Ambon by joining in butchering the Muslims.

“The presence of the apparatuses who are known to be doing such acts should not be let to happen again because they are not paid by the State to slaughter Muslims, let alone to commit treason for seeking to establish the RMS,” he condemned.

Due to that, the FPI urged the Indonesian Police Chief to personally visit the crime scene in Ambon to conduct a surprise inspection and prosecute his criminal men. The FPI sees that the involvement of the apparatuses in the Ambon violence, which have killed Muslims, could easily occur because of the imbalanced composition of the BriMob forces which are predominantly Christian.

“We also question, is the number and composition of the BriMob forces in Ambon normal? Because the BriMob there could be made up of more than 70 percents Christians. Does this does make sense?” asked Shabri.

“This has become an opportunity for them, instead of doing policing they have committed murders,” he said.

With regards to this, the FPI demanded the removal of the Chief Commander of the BriMob, and then the composition of the BriMob members assigned to Maluku should be improved so as to be more proportional.

“We are also demanding the replacement of the BriMob Chief Commander there, and also the composition of the BriMob Muslim and Christian members should immediately be adjusted, say to 50-50, so that there is balance and no domination, if they truly want to protect the NKRI (Unitary State of the Republic on Indonesia), that is. But if the police are indeed controlled by the Jewish agents, to let go of Indonesia through that, then that's a different story,” Shabri said.

Responding to this, Shabri said that the FPI will prepare the laskar (soldiers) jihad to Ambon when needed.

“We have given notices to all FPI activists throughout the country to prepare themselves to go to Ambon to defend the Muslims and protect the NKRI from the RMS,” he said.

While awaiting further development, to finalize the plan to send the laskar jihad to Ambon, the FPI has even issued a notice to all members of the FPI so as to make preparations to open command posts for humanitarian volunteers to Ambon.

“We still continue to follow the developments, we have issued a notice to all members of the FPI to get ready and each zone will open a command post soon,” he disclosed.

For a solidarity with fellow Muslims, concerning the fate of Muslims in Ambon, the FPI urged the Muslims to help shoulder to shoulder the struggle of the Islamic ummah in Ambon, to defend them from persecutions. The FPI hopes that the Muslims are ready to answer the call of jihad when needed.

“To Islamic Ummah, it is hoped that they are carrying out objective measures, we must prepare ourselves to help our brothers and sisters in Maluku. It is our duty to help them in whatever way we can. For those who are able and insha Allah, if really required, we will be dispatching Mujahideen, we hope the Islamic Ummah are ready to answer the call,” Shabri explained.

Besides that, the FPI also urged Muslims to provide financial, logistic and medical aids needed by the Muslims in Ambon whose homes and properties were burned in the riots.

The assistance which is not less important, according to Shabri, is the struggle of the opinions and do'a of Qunut Nazilah to inflame the spirit of the Muslims in defending their oppressed brothers and sisters.

“Whatever step, whatever means, whatever attention given to our brothers and sisters, all will be beneficial and there is no reason for us to not help, because they are our brothers and sisters of “innamal mu’minuna ikhwah”. In whatsoever way we help the Muslims, it is all a part of jihad. So let all Muslims to take part in this jihad program as much as we are able to do,” he concluded.
